“神代欅と出会って” ― 竹田光幸
1964年、21歳の頃「神代欅」と出会う。「神代欅」は千年以上、土の中に埋もれていた欅で、固く重く密度が濃く香りが無く、不思議な魅力がある。 非常に堅く普通の彫刻刀では刻むことが出来ないため、帰郷し実家の鉄工所の鍛造場で「神代欅」を彫れる彫刻刀を製作した。
"Jindai Keyaki"(Ancient Zelkova Wood) - Mitsuyuki Takeda
In 1964, at the age of 21, I encountered "Jindai Keyaki". Jindai Keyaki is a Japanese Zelkova tree that was buried in the ground for over a thousand years. It is hard, heavy, dense, and odorless, possessing a mysterious appeal. Because Jindai Keyaki is extremely tough and cannot be carved with ordinary chisels, I returned to my hometown and made carving tools capable of cutting it in the forge at my family's ironworks.

1964年、他21岁时遇到了“神代榉”。“神代榉”是埋在土中千年以上的榉木、它坚硬、沉重、密度高、并且没有香味、带有一种神秘的魅力。 由于“神代榉”非常坚硬，普通的雕刻刀无法雕刻，他便回乡，在自家铁工厂的锻造场制作了能雕刻“神代榉”的雕刻刀。
