ヨーロッパを視察旅行しイギリス、ドイツ、イタリア、エジプト等の歴史的造形の実体験から海外から見た日本美観について自己の造形表現の確立を求めることに取り組んだ時だった。世界に通じる東洋の表現、そして国際的な彫刻観を持つことの大切さから構成美を主題にした象徴的な日本の塔や寺院など鎌倉建築の寄せ木法による新たなる構成展開を試みた。
From my actual experiences with formative expression in European and other countries such as the U.K., Germany, Italy and Egypt, I went on to actively set out in search of compositional skills for my own expressivity in the world of Japanese aesthetics as seen from other countries.
From the standpoint of the importance of possessing expressive powers of the orient or an international awareness of sculpture comprehensible throughout the world, I experimented with developing new formative creation from expressions achieved by wood joinery techniques used in the wood architecture of structures such as pagodas and temples symbolic of compositional aesthetics.
