50代での創作は手像の連作の思考から新たなる創作の表現の意識が芽生えた時でもありました。素材においても楠材から檜に関心が深まり檜の持つ優しさと温かさには格別な表現の美意識の可能性を抱くことになりました。欅から楠に、そして檜と15年の間隔で移行することになりました。
cypress wood rather than camphor tree wood as a raw material deepened and I became aware of the potential of the special sense of beauty inherent in the gentleness and warmth of the Japanese cypress. I found that I shifted from the use of the Japanese Zelkova tree to camphor and then to Japanese cypress in fifteen-year cycles.
